When a terrorist bomb exploded aboard Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland just days before Christmas 1988, 270 lives ended in one horrific moment. The bombing of this trans-Atlantic flight heading for JFK later proved to have been perpetrated by Libya, and so began a bitter fight for truth waged by the victims’ families. The only thing standing in the way of justice? Our thirst for Libyan oil and corporate greed. In the end, Pan Am 103 proved that terrorists can get away with murder – as long as they are sitting on an ocean of oil to buy their way out of punishment.
Phil Furey is a filmmaker, composer and television news producer based in New York and Los Angeles. Since is his first feature-length documentary.
