In 2011, Eric, diagnosed schizophrenic, faced a critical choice — whether to comply with traditional mental health treatment or follow his own path to wellness. Eric’s doctors want to medicate him for his own protection, but after eight years of psych meds, Eric wants to refuses drugs he believes may harm him. Crazy provides a front-row seat to one person’s struggle with his illness, his family, the local mental health system, psychiatric meds and the right to make one’s own decisions.

Lise Zumwalt has produced, written and edited films for National Geographic Television, PBS, WNET, BBC, NBC, The History Channel and the Discovery Channel and has won 14 awards for her work, including a 2009 Gracie Award for Outstanding Documentary for Sex Workers or Victims, an investigation into the domestic sex trade of teenage girls.
