David Barba and James Pellerito founded Retribution Media in 2005. Barba’s short film Adios, para Siempre won Urbanworld VIBE’s Best Short Film Award in 2006. Pellerito’s short film Maree won awards at 25 of the 100 festivals worldwide that screened it. Together they created Pop Star on Ice, a feature documentary, and the TV series Be Good Johnny Weir. American Cheerleader was their second feature documentary.
